About Velicham
Velicham was initiated by Ms.Velicham Sherin in 2004. It was registered in the name VELICHAM STUDENTS EDUCATIONAL AND WELFARE TRUST under Trust act 1882. The registered number 2104/04 and its accepts 80g income tax exemption act. Sherin was motivated by her own struggles and hardships to work as a community leader and give light to others. She believes that education comes not only from books and practical experience, but also from life experience. She decided to take the initiative to serve as a social worker. With no salary and a family of Velicham students the community continually supported her. Since she was taking social action and making progressive change in an honest way the community supported her not only financially, but through belief and volunteering their own services. Through all of her experience she has determined her work to support and motivate others so they will have opportunity and equality. Velicham is a powerful movement led by strong intelligent students who are working to bring transformation in the society.
Velicham is a dedicated movement for social transformation and struggling for education for first generation students, and giving them the opportunity for higher studies, by selecting students based on merit (good marks), Academic Performance and a Family Background & personal evaluation, Etc. Velicham can give financial support and guidance so that students can realize their future dreams. Velicham works to give students education outside of the classroom so they have an understanding of self and become a productive and responsible member of society.
